Ethical atheists? Atheists-with-a-plus-sign-that-looks-like-a-cross? Who’s the best type of atheist?
What about the ones who have “the acceptance that there is no credible scientific or factually reliable evidence for the existence of a god, gods or the supernatural*“? Those may well be the best, because that’s pretty well ALL of them.
Other criteria apply to other things. If a person is a hero or an arsehole, that doesn’t impinge on how atheist, or not, that person is.
When the faithists apply tags like “strident”, “militant” and so on, there’s generally a bit of indignation. And so there fucking well should be now, when a cadre decide to unilaterally define themselves as ethically superior to any who don’t wear the uniform.
My conscience and ethos are my own. I had them before I was an atheist, and can be persuaded by reason to view things in a reasonable manner. It doesn’t need to be fallaciously conflated with my atheism.

I propose a new, toned down version of atheism+, called “Atheism++”. It’s like “Atheism+” but involves more activism and shit.

I proposed an even new and IMPROVED version of atheism++, called “atheism+=2″ which we shall be united in one cause.

I propose an even new, improved, and UPGRADED version of atheism+=2, known as “(atheism+=2)++”, which is even better than atheism+=2, because we can better improve scientific knowledge and shit.

I think I stuffed up the last time, and have come up with a new, improved, upgraded, and ENHANCED version of (atheism+=2)++, which is “++((atheism+=2)++)” which this time includes pirate hats.

I propose “atheism squared”, which is full on and includes weed in the package.

Now that I’ve sobered up, I prefer “atheism plus plus plus plus plus” which really defines atheism in a clear, concise manner. And because it is written in plain English, we hope not to offend Christians before they implode.
